About The Expo 2020

We are proud to announce that the Bergen County Academies has been approved by the Society for Science and the Public, to run our own ISEF-affiliated fair The BCA Research Expo. Participation is limited to the students attending the school. The BCA Expo is affiliated with the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF). Winners of the BCA Research Expo competition will represent BCA at ISEF. Each year, more than 7 million high school students around the world, develop original research projects and present their work at local science competitions with the hope of making it to the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair, a program of the Society for Science & the Public. Approximately 1,700 winners of local, regional, state, and national competitions are invited to participate in this week-long celebration of science, technology, engineering, and math. At the event, these young innovators share ideas, showcase cutting-edge research, and compete for more than 4 million dollars in awards and scholarships.lineTop of page

Our Mission

  • The Research Expo supports science education in a safe, student oriented atmosphere which challenges the student to think critically.
  • The Research Expo promotes diversity which is celebrated and instruction which is personalized.
  • The Research Expo will encourage the student to make ethical decisions and acquire skills to live in a global society by investigating bold solutions to complex challenges.
  • Students, teachers, scientists, parents and society are all stakeholders in the success of the student’s education. Stakeholders, with diverse voices, will be included in the learning experience manifested by the Research Expo.
  • The Research Expo celebrates scientific inquiry in a risk free environment in which each and every student can experience success. Self esteem and the feeling of self worth are essential for creating a sensitive and compassionate citizen who will strive to better the community and our global society.
  • The Research Expo supports authentic research which meets the needs of all students with regard to their learning styles.
  • The Research Expo facilitates the ability of the student to gain the knowledge, comprehend the knowledge, apply the knowledge, analyze the knowledge for the significance of its components, synthesize new hypotheses from the knowledge mastered, and evaluate the new hypotheses.
